Civil Society in National Education Policy in the Global South

Thursday, April 18, 2024

The Accountability Research Center (ARC), as a Global Learning Partner of the Education Out Loud program, hosted a webinar to discuss the evolving role of civil society in national education policy in the Global South.

An expert panel of scholars and practitioners discussed topics such as the role of social movements in knowledge-making, south-south partnerships of CSOs to promote learning outcomes, transnational support for national education coalitions, and the experiences of grassroots organizing in shrinking civic spaces.

The webinar built on what scholars and practitioners know about education advocacy in the global South, but also highlighted both those newly emerging and often ignored civil society actors in the advocacy sphere.
